Cobra The Space Pirate Movie

French filmmaker Alexandre Aja (who brought us Piranha 3D) is working on Cobra The Space Pirate, a movie adaptation of the space-opera manga series written and illustrated by Buichi Terasawa. Alexandre Aja is really passionate about Cobra: he first discovered the hero as a kid, watching the animated series on TV. He's now determined to bring Cobra The Space Pirate to the big screen and is working hard on the script of a live-action movie adaptation. The film is scheduled for a release in 2013.

Here's a first official teaser poster of the upcoming movie Cobra The Space Pirate:

COBRA: THE SPACE PIRATE

Plot:
"The new film revolves around Cobra, a notorious rogue pirate whose refusal to align with the United Galaxies Federation put him on the business end of a huge bounty. As he tries to keep his identity secret and avoid capture, Cobra teams up with a sexy bounty hunter named Jane, who is out to locate her sisters and decode a treasure map tattooed on their backs. Their goal: to liberate a lost treasure on Mars."

Director Alexandre Aja promises the spirit of the film will be faithful to the manga:

"We have to keep the essence of Cobra. He's an adventurer and a seducer. The sexy aspects have to be included in the film. Just like its humor and adventure. The whole universe created by Terasawa must be brought to the big screen."
